Registration Deadline for the 2016-2017 Student Recognition Project is Approaching

The Student Recognition Project is an opportunity to recognize high school students in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District for project-based learning with a unique community twist! Students compete in their choice of 25 categories that showcase their skills, both within and outside the curriculum. Project judging is done by professionals with extensive expertise in the various categories. The program is coordinated by  volunteer San Ramon Valley community members and the San Ramon Valley Unified School District. The purpose of the program is to create collaboration among students, educators and the business community in the San Ramon Valley, to promote educational excellence and to prepare students for the business world of the 21st century.

Students who want to take part must submit a registration form by February 17, 2017 in each category they wish to enter.   Projects are due by March 2, or in the case of performance projects are scheduled for a specific day and time the week of February 27.  Projects are showcased at the annual Open House at which the honorable mentions and winners are unveiled.

The Open House on March 13, 2017 is open to the public and showcases hundreds of student projects representing most of the categories ranging from engineering to community service to fashion design.  While the contest is only open to high school students, students of all ages and their families are encouraged to attend.  It’s inspiring to see what our students can do!

All submitted projects will receive a letter of recognition; honorable mentions will receive a certificate; and winners will receive a prize, an invitation to the awards breakfast, and a chance to connect with the judges. This year, winners of the arts categories will have the chance to have their artwork displayed at the Village Theater in Danville between April 22-May 6, 2017.

The program is coordinated by the San Ramon Valley Unified School District and sponsored by Chevron.  The judging and Open House space is provided by Bishop Ranch. The program is a collaboration between students, educators and the business community in the San Ramon Valley. It promotes educational excellence and prepares students for future career possibilities.  More information on the Student Recognition Project may be found at
