CYBERBULLYING
Cyberbullying or online bullying is bullying through digital communication. The California Department of Education defines it as being “willful and involves recurring or repeated harm inflicted through electronic text.”
Examples of cyberbullying include sending texts or posting tweets or Facebook posts that are hurtful to another person. This can include threats, hate-motivated speech or insults. Sending repeated unwanted emails to someone can be a form of cyberbullying. In some cases, cyberbullies may assume an identity of a victim for the purpose of embarrassing that person.
OUR MISSION
The San Ramon Valley Unified School District is committed to
educating students, staff, and the community on the
effective, ethical and safe use of online and digital tools.

DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP WEEK
Each year in October, SRVUSD observes Digital Citizenship Week. We celebrate this week by teaching lessons that empower students to think critically, behave safely, and be responsible digital citizens.
REPORTING BULLYING AND CYBERBULLYING IN SRVUSD
The San Ramon Valley Unified School District is committed to protecting students and preventing discrimination on our campuses. SRVUSD believes that our students have the right to be free of bullying, intimidation and harassment while on any of our campuses or associated with any school/district related activity. In accordance with these beliefs and commitments, SRVUSD has adopted Board Policy 5145.3
All students, employees, parents and community members should report incidents of suspected bullying immediately. If you witness or suspect bullying, please complete the following fillable form and immediately forward to the school principal. An investigation will be conducted to determine if bullying occurred and corrective action needed.

Remember when a phone was just a phone? Phones are now for listening to music, sending texts, filming videos, snapping and sharing photos, and accessing the Internet. Kids are using computers and tablets to socialize, stream video, and create their own music for sharing. They are able to connect and share 24/7 from just about any location.
At San Ramon Valley Unified School District, we want our students to make good decisions so they can take advantage of the powerful technology tools that fill their lives at both home and school. But in order to make good choices, they need to understand how the digital world works. The stakes are higher because our kids' technological abilities can be greater than their maturity and judgement.
This is why SRVUSD has partnered withCommon Sense Media to provide resources, tips, videos, and other materials to help parents and our SRVUSD educators keep our students safe in the digital world. Please spend a few moments reviewing these resources and most importantly, model positive digital behavior with your children or students as much as possible.
In addition, here are a few quick resources that parents can use at home:
- Keep the computer in a high-traffic area of your home.
- Establish limits for which online sites children may visit and for how long.
- Remember that Internet technology is mobile so be sure to monitor cell phones, gaming devices, and laptops.
- Surf the Internet with your children and let them show you what they like to do online.
- Know who is connecting with your children online and set rules for social networking, instant messaging, e-mailing, online gaming, and using webcams.
- Continually dialog with your children about online safety.
