Google Apps for Education
Each student in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District has a Google Apps for Education account This provides access to the GSuite for Education tools in Google Drive. Classroom instruction integrates the use of these tools for Deep Learning and Innovation.
To learn more about how to support your child with the integration of these tools, check out the resources below:
Seesaw is a learning tool that is provided for all students in transitional kindergarten through first grade. It is a platform for student engagement that inspires our littlest learners to do their best! Students use creative tools to take pictures, draw, record videos and more to capture learning in a portfolio. Teachers find or create activities to share with students. To learn more about Seesaw, check out this webpage and video.
  • Seesaw is a simple way for teachers and students to record and share what's happening in the classroom.
  • Seesaw gives students a place to document their learning, be creative and learn how to use technology.
  • Each student gets their own journal and will add things to it, like photos, videos, drawings, or notes.
  • When there are new Seesaw posts, families can be notified via app notification, email or SMS.
  • Parents are only notified about their own child’s work, and all data is safe and secure.
  • To learn more, check out the Parent Guide to Seesaw
Following a year-long selection process involving all of our stakeholder groups, the SRVUSD adopted Schoology as our District’s new comprehensive Learning Management System (LMS) in 2021.
Schoology is the main communication tool between classrooms, students and families for all grade levels at all schools. It is a tool that is used to post class and course materials, curriculum and reports of student progress and grades for all of our middle and high school students and most of our 2nd - 5th grade students, as well, depending upon your school site. While Schoology will replace School Loop and Google Classroom, we will continue to use the Infinite Campus Parent Portal as we have in the past.
What is an Online Learning Management System?

An online Learning Management System, such as Schoology (including an available mobile app), helps you stay informed about your child’s classes and progress in school. It is the main platform that students use to manage their classwork and connect with teachers. Schoology can also be used to:
  • Communicate with your child’s teachers
  • View your child’s courses
  • View your child’s upcoming, current and past-due assignments
  • View course calendars and tasks
  • Access classroom resources from any device
  • Engage in a secure and safe, easy-to-use, way for teachers, students, parents, and administrators to seamlessly communicate and collaborate to enhance student learning and success.
Parents can view courses, assignments and calendars for all of their students from a single parent account. Parents cannot view submitted assignments, comments from other children in the class, or feedback provided by teachers.
Why the change?
The switch to Schoology provides our district, schools and educators with a learning management system that is both powerful and easy to navigate. We recognize that changing technology platforms is never easy, but we are convinced that you will find this new tool to be a simple and effective way to support your child(ren) in their learning.
Staff members have been training since spring to effectively use this platform’s basic functions for the beginning of the year.  All staff were provided with training in spring, as well as with additional hours and training opportunities throughout the summer.
How can parents / guardians connect to Schoology?
At the beginning of the school year, you will receive an email directly from Schoology which will instruct you to create your Schoology account.  You will automatically be linked to your student’s classes and will not need to do anything else. Additionally, your school(s) will be in touch with you with site-specific information regarding the use of Schoology. Most importantly, students will receive instruction on using Schoology during the first weeks of school. If you need assistance with Schoology login information, please submit a tech ticket here.
Where do I go for help?
One of the great benefits of Schoology is their help and support system. Help is available direct from Schoology by clicking on the blue “S” at the bottom of the Schoology page. We have also created a one page “Fast Facts” guide to assist you with the basics.

As a community, we will continue to learn how to use Schoology together.  Schoology not only allows us to increase our communication and responsiveness, but more importantly, to improve classroom instruction as we meet the Deep Learning goals that are part of the plan of our Strategic Directions.
