Additional Mask Updates and Clarifications: 03.01.22
Posted 3/1/22

Dear SRVUSD Community,

We want to provide some additional clarifications and information on the updated mask requirements we shared with our community yesterday. As we have done since the beginning of the pandemic, and as directed by the Board of Education, SRVUSD will continue to follow our guiding principle, to fulfill but not exceed local and state public health requirements:

  • We have confirmation from the state that the entity that governs employees, CalOSHA, has aligned their rules with the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) guidance (CDPH). Beginning on March 14, 2022, indoor masking in K-12 settings will not be required for staff in addition to students, but will instead be strongly recommended.

  • Masks are required in all schools through March 11th. This means that the first instructional day that students and staff are not required to wear masks is on Monday, March 14, 2022.

  • The above rules lifting the mask requirement for all K-12 and childcare settings beginning on March 14th applies to all of the following SRVUSD programs:

    • Preschool programs at Live Oak, Walt Disney and Greenbrook Elementary Schools

    • Transitional Kindergarten (TK) classrooms

    • Del Amigo adult students

    • School buses serving only K-12 populations (not city or county run buses)

    • School sports, performing arts, and all other extracurricular activities and events

As a reminder, please pull together to respect everyone’s personal choice regarding masking, free of judgment, teasing or peer pressure.

At this time, school community and group contact tracing COVID-19 exposure notifications will continue to be sent out and there have been no changes to the rules for when someone tests positive for COVID-19. When there are any additional updates, we will be certain to share those with the community as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to and/or your school Principal.
