Technology Advisory Committee
The Technology Advisory Committee is dedicated to fostering a safe, innovative, and forward-thinking technological environment within our schools. Comprised of district staff, community members, and industry experts, the committee meets regularly to discuss and address critical topics such as cybersecurity, data governance, and the strategic integration of AI in education. Together, we work to ensure that SRVUSD remains at the forefront of technological advancements, supporting our students and staff with secure, effective, and cutting-edge digital resources.
The San Ramon Valley Unified School District (SRVUSD) Technology Advisory Committee is seeking passionate, collaborative members for the 2026-2027 school year.
This committee brings together a diverse group of parents, students, staff, and community members to partner with and advise the district's Technology Department. Together, we ensure that our digital resources, infrastructure, and classroom tools directly support and enhance the district’s educational goals.
We are looking for individuals who are eager to contribute to a collaborative, forward-thinking environment. If you are interested in helping shape how technology empowers learning in our schools, we encourage you to apply!

Final selection of Committee members will be based on criteria that consider several variables to achieve broad representation. The goal is to have a cross-section of individuals sit on this committee and reflect the diversity of the SRVUSD community. Please note that if you are not selected, there will be a number of opportunities for you to participate and provide input in other ways.

2026-2027 Key Goals & Focus Areas
For the upcoming school year, the committee will focus on critical initiatives to shape the future of technology at SRVUSD, including:
- Annual Tech Plan Review: Reviewing and updating the district’s comprehensive Technology Plan to ensure it remains a dynamic, forward-looking roadmap.
- System Rollout Evaluations: Monitoring and reviewing all major Technology Department rollouts.
- Instructional Benchmarks: Analyzing and integrating new instructional technology benchmarks to measure student and teacher digital literacy.
- AI Implementation: Guiding the safe, ethical, and innovative integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in teaching and learning and for operational use
- Cybersecurity Measures: Assessing and strengthening the district's cybersecurity posture to protect our community.
- Data Governance: Ensuring robust student data privacy, security protocols, and compliance standards are maintained district-wide.

Department Goals & Operations: Reviewed IT alignment with SRVUSD strategic directions, focusing on cybersecurity, AI for deep learning/innovation, and student data governance.
Summer Readiness Metrics: Highlights included prepping and deploying thousands of student and staff devices, configuring 130 district/site integrations, installing 1,800 new phones, and resolving over 9,700 support tickets.
Cybersecurity Upgrades: Examined ransomware trends and detailed new security implementations, including a $250,000 FFY24 SLCGP grant utilized for CrowdStrike endpoint protection and Abnormal AI email threat protection.
MFA Updates: Announced that Microsoft is retiring SMS and voice call multi-factor authentication (MFA) in February 2027. Introduced the transition toward approved Microsoft Authenticator apps and phishing-resistant passkeys.

Wins: Appreciation for reliable Chromebook access, removal of Google search AI summaries, helpful support from the network team, robust cybersecurity posture, and thoughtful AI integration.
Challenges: Navigating a high volume of disparate digital tools and apps, a desire for streamlined "single pane of glass" views, challenges in parent visibility regarding classroom tech, and ongoing questions around appropriate AI usage guidelines.
Needs: Enhanced data collection from user ticket analysis, improved mechanisms for gathering direct user feedback, clear guidelines on intentional AI use, and continued efforts to streamline digital workflows.

Phase 2 MFA Rollout (Oct–Nov 2026): District-wide staff communication and enrollment drive for secure MFA methods.
Phase 3 MFA Enforcement (Dec 2026): District enforcement of the retirement of SMS and voice call authentication options ahead of the official Microsoft deprecation date.
Gather site input: Coordinating empathy interviews at school sites to understand the technology needs at school sites.
