San Ramon Valley

The Academic Talent Program (ATP) is a magnet class program for students in grades 4 through middle school who are identified as highly gifted using local measurements. ATP offers students the opportunity to work in a homogeneous setting where their unique talents and abilities are challenged to the fullest extent. The curriculum is fast paced, complex and individualized. 

 

ATP is not intended for all students who are gifted and/or academically strong. It is not a pathway to Advanced Placement courses or top-ranked colleges. To learn more about what ATP is - and what it is not - please review the ATP presentations and FAQs links below. 

 

 

Participation in ATP is based on local SRVUSD identification criteria (CogAT scores within San Ramon Valley Unified School District local norms - a comparison of students within our district). 

 

To be initially eligible for ATP selection, students must receive a Local Percentile Rank (LPR) of 97 or above on the locally normed CogAT. These scores are not the same as the nationally normed scores (APR) that are posted on the Infinite Campus Portal. 

 

Students identified as GATE from other school districts do not qualify for ATP placement. Students transferring from outside districts must first enroll in SRVUSD and take the SRVUSD-administered CogAT in order to be considered for ATP eligibility.

 

Parents of students with qualifying ATP scores will be notified by letter regarding next steps. Students are selected based on demonstrated ability and need to thrive in a highly challenging and accelerated instructional environment.
