ATP
Academic Talent Program

Academic Talent Program
The Academic Talent Program (ATP) is a magnet class program for students in grades 4 through middle school who are identified as highly gifted using local measurements. The ATP offers students the opportunity to work in a homogeneous setting where their unique talents and abilities are challenged to the fullest extent. The curriculum is fast paced, complex and individualized. ATP is not for all students who are gifted and/or academically strong. It is not a gateway to Advanced Placement courses or top-ranked colleges. To find out more information about what ATP is and what it is not, click on the links below to view the past year's presentation slides.
The selection of students for the ATP is based on the CogAT scores within San Ramon Valley Unified School District local norms (a comparison of students within our district). To be initially eligible for ATP selection, students must receive a Local Percentile Rank (LPR) of 97 or above on the locally normed CogAT taken at SRVUSD. These scores are not the same as the nationally normed scores that are posted on Campus Portal. Local scores can be obtained by contacting the Assessment Office at ecassessmentmainline@srvusd.net or Tiffany Marquez at tmarquez@srvusd.net.
Parents of students who have qualifying scores will be notified by a letter. The ATP selection panel also reviews students' other measures, such as classroom work samples and input from the school to select students who demonstrate the ability and need to work in a highly challenging and fast-paced instructional environment. Based on these measures, students will be accepted and placed in the ATP program. ATP classes are currently offered at Bella Vista Elementary School and at Diablo Vista, Gale Ranch, and Windemere Ranch Middle Schools.
