MIDDLE SCHOOL MATH
The College and Career Ready pathway for middle school mathematics includes Courses 1, 2, and 3 from the California Framework for Mathematics and the Common Core State Standards.
Students enrolled in Courses 1, 2, and 3 can access Springboard Mathematics in the SRVUSD portal.
There are multiple advancement opportunities in middle and high school for students wishing to advance in math, although it is not required to do so to reach higher level mathematics in high school.

Middle School Math Advancement Program (MAP)
MAP is offered to students who are prepared and motivated to advance in middle school math.
Registration links will be posted here soon. Please see timeline below.
MAP Criteria
- 100% Completion of the Edgenuity Curriculum with 80% or better final grade by July 25 at noon.
- Counselors will be notified of students’ successful completion of the course. Students not meeting the completion criteria will be recommended to repeat the course during the school year.
- Progress reported will be pass/fail.
- The district will notify the middle school for placement so you do not need to contact them.
MAP Timeline
End of February- SRVUSD emails families regarding middle school math placement. (Link to 2023 Letter)
March 22 - MAP Presentation (see link above for recording) or in person at Charlotte Wood Middle School 4:30-5:30pm in the MPR.
April 12- 5th Grade Advancement Assessment taken at elementary school sites.
April 24 - May 1 - Link coming soon for registration for summer Math Advancement Program for current 5th, 6th, and 7th grade students (incoming 6th-8th students).
May 8-July 25- Students enrolled in MAP must complete course work.
August- Students are placed into appropriate course based on completion of MAP.

- 8th to 9th grade Algebra 1 math placement - per Mathematics Placement Act of 2015
- SRVUSD does not offer summer math courses for advancement. Students wishing to advance may consider Summer Advancement via Outside Institutions.
- Core Curriculum for Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 is Big Ideas Mathematics which is available to students in the SRVUSD portal to students enrolled in these courses.
- Elective mathematics courses in SRVUSD use board approved texts found one the page at this link.
