Measure D includes two projects listed specifically for Dougherty Valley High School.  One is a classroom addition necessary to help accommodate future enrollment as homes are completed in the Dougherty Valley.  The second is a “Green Technology and Alternative Energy” (GTAE) classroom that is funded up to 50% through a State Grant.  Although listed in the bond as separate projects, the District was able to combine them in one building, allowing a savings on construction costs.

The new building is located at the west end of the 1000 wing. This area was designated on the Facilities Master Plan for future classrooms to be built when needed when Dougherty Valley High was originally built.

The contractor mobilized and began construction in March 2015. Construction continued through the 2015-2016 school year.  The district worked closely with the architects and project manager to ensure that disruptions were kept to a minimum. The new classroom building addition opened in August 2016.
September 2016: New classroom building addition is open and operating successfully. The ribbon cutting ceremony took place on August 17th.

August 2016: Punchlist items in progress. Furniture installed. Network equipment is being installed. Staff is moving into building in early August.

May/June 2016: Project is on schedule for completion for start of school 2016. Furniture is on order, early August delivery anticipated.

March/April 2016: Exterior brick and stucco complete. Heating, Ventilation, and AC units on roof. Continuing interior utilities and finishes. Project is on schedule.

May/June 2015: Construction is under way.

March 2015: Award of bid for Classroom Building Addition.

February 2015: Classroom Building Addition project scheduled to rebid February 25, 2015.

December 2014: District facilities staff notifies neighbors of the upcoming project description and scope of work. The classroom building addition is scheduled to receive bids in January 2015.
