Rainbow
The Rainbow Program is a research based early intervention program aimed at the following objectives:
  • Helping students get a good start in school
  • Developing and enhancing social skills
  • Fostering healthy self-concept
  • Improving school adjustment
  • Developing leadership skills
  • Assisting with life transitions
 
The Rainbow Program is available at all of the San Ramon Valley Unified School District Elementary School Sites. Paraprofessionals are trained and staffed to work with students in the program.  The paraprofessionals meet with the School site Social-Emotional team for consultation on the students in the program. 
 
The Rainbow Program offers the following individualized and social skills programs:
 
     Check-In/Check Out (CICO) Progam
  • Check-In/Check Out is a school-wide support that provides students with added structure, encouragement, and connection through targeted goal-setting, feedback, and reflection with a safe, trusted adult.  The process fosters postive relationships, reinforces expectations and behavior, and helps students stay engaged and successful in their learning.
 
     Second Step 
  • Small groups of 2 to 4 students, grades TK-5
  • 45 minutes per week in activity room with a structured Second Step social skills lesson, followed by supervised 10 - 15 minute free choice play
  • Units on Empathy, Problem Solving, Emotion Management, and Skills for Learning (focusing attention, listening, and staying on task)
 
Steps to Respect
  • Small groups of 2 to 5 students, grades 3-5
  • 45 minutes per week in activity room with a social skills lesson followed by supervised 10 - 15 minute free choice play
  • Literature-based social skills curriculum
 
PALS
  • Small groups of 2 to 4 students, grades TK-5
  • 45 minutes per week in activity room for a friendship lesson followed by supervised 10 - 15 minute free-choice play time
  • Literature-based curriculum focused on building and maintaining friendships
 
Get Ready for Middle School (GRMS)
  • Small groups of 2 to 5 second semester 5th graders 
  • 30 minutes per week in activity room
  • Literature-based curriculum focused on getting ready for middle school
