School Safety

Student and staff safety is a top priority in SRVUSD. Each school site has a plan with specified roles and responsibilities for handling various types of emergencies. The district has the CareLine - a reporting system available on each school website. Reports can be made by any member of the school community to report incidents related to bullying, threats, reports of hate and discrimination, or other situations that may pose a danger or bring harm to members of our school community.

Who to Contact

Many questions can be answered by school site staff! Please go to your school website to find office and administration contact information.

Any issues or concerns are best resolved first at the classroom level. However, there are times when a resolution cannot be reached at the classroom level, and a parent, caregiver, or community member may need additional support from the school or even District administration. You can access contact information and who to ask for help at any time additional support is needed (please note that the information is current for the 23-24 school year, and will be updated for the start of the 24-25 school year).

Families with district-level or general questions shoudl feel free to reach out to one of our district departments.

E-Bike and Scooter Safety

With the rise in the popularity of e-bikes and scooters as a means of transportation to and from school, it is important that both students and families have the necessary information to follow the law and stay safe.

Check out these important resources:

Since they can travel at higher speeds than traditional bikes, e-bikes and scooters require extra caution and riders must follow the law and rules of the road, for instance, all riders under the age of 18 are required to wear a helmet by California law. In addition to helmets, riders must obey traffic signals, stop signs, and other road regulations just as they would when driving a car. View our summary chart for information about bikes, e-bikes, and scooters.

County Connection offers several discounts and promotions on youth bus passes. For more information see our district web page or visit County Connection.

TRAFFIX, funded by Contra Costa County's Measure J 1/2 cent sales tax, safely transports students on select routes at 11 SRVUSD schools. The primary purpose of the program is to reduce traffic in the San Ramon Valley's most congested areas.

Air Quality and Heat Advisory Guidance

SRVUSD prioritizes the safety of all students and staff. During periods of poor air quality and/or excessive heat, the district relies on and follows guidance from county and state partners to align decision making regarding air quality and heat advisories with what our partners in education use to make their decisions.

The district uses AirNow.gov to measure air quality. Decisions about Air Quality levels and school activities in SRVUSD are normalized on an Air Quality Guidelines Chart that is provided to every school site. Learn more on the Air Quality Information webpage.

When there is excessive heat on a school day, school administrators follow guidance for when outdoor activity should be minimized based on the heat index. All guidance, tips and other resources are available on the Heat Advisory Guidance webpage.

511 Contra Costa

511 Contra Costa is a county-wide program that strives to reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality by providing the public with information, resources, and tools that promote mobility options beyond driving alone.
